Edna Irene Drury

Edna Irene Drury, aged 92, was called home to be with the Lord on March 30, 2024. She passed away after a sudden illness in Ravenna, OH. She passed peacefully, surrounded by beloved family. It is with great sadness that we must say goodbye. 

She has resided in Ohio for the last 9 years to be close to family. She was a sweet, loving mother, grandmother, friend and confidant. 

She was born on July 28,1931 at Backus, WV to Luezella "Claypool" Smith and Herbert Lee Smith. She was a longtime resident of Charmco, Fayetteville, Mammoth and Beckley WV, where she attended Garten Pentecostal Holiness Church and Laurel Fork Church of God, she spent most of her life doing the Lord’s work and volunteered at Marmet Center Nursing Home in Marmet, WV to spread the Lord’s word and to provide companionship to the residents. She made a new friend, where ever she went.  She loved church, cooking, gardening, traveling, bingo and exploring nature. 

She is preceded in death by her husband of 19 years, Henry A. Drury; sisters, Suzanne Smith (birth), Edith Hughes, Margie Atkins; Brothers,  Alvie, Clarence, Gilbert, Lonnie and Elderidge Smith; children, Angela (birth), Joseph A Drury, Clifford, Henry Edward, Ronald Lee and Irvin Drury; Sisters-in-law,  Shirley and Martha Smith; And her great grandchild, Joseph Drury. 

Words can’t express how much she will be missed by her daughter, Brenda (Dave) Newkirk of Kent, OH; grandchildren, Kira Newkirk (Steve) Brunswick, OH, Sean (Vicki) Newkirk of Kent, OH, Tara (David) Milhorn of TN; great grandchildren,  Ethan Broadstock, Declan Newkirk, Willow, Castiel, Eli Taylor, Lea and Ezekiel Milhorn of TN.  In the Lieu of Service there will be a Celebration of  Life at a date determined by family.
